“This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)

Give thanks to the Lord who is good and whose love endures forever. Because the Lord is good, I can truly say this is the day that the Lord has Made!!

This morning I woke up and had a cup of #joy. It’s true literally and figuratively. I picked up a white cup and the words “Joy” was written in gold colored script. Immediately as I realized this, the scripture came to mind, “The joy of the Lord is my strength” Nehemiah 8:10. I began to think of how God is rebuilding and restoring each of us and making sure that our relationship with God is not lost. God is reaffirming to us that God is still our God. Perhaps you are someone who instead of joy are filled with anxiety over what’s next? I am here to tell you that “The joy of the Lord is our strength!!” And to tell you to put down the cup you are drinking from, cup of worry, cup of fear, cup of anxiety, etc. Here, I will share my cup with you! I will pour you some joy. The joy that I hide in my heart the way that the word of God should hide in our hearts (Psalm 119:11) and that joy which comes in the morning (Psalm 30). I am also reminded of the song I would sing while in church when I first started in ministry, “This joy that I have the world didn’t give it to me and the world can’t take it away)." Despite what is going all around me globally, I still have joy! I have joy because, “you are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you” (Psalm 118:28). You are my God, and no matter what’s going on in my life, I will praise You. I will trust you. And I will delight in you. If we are not drinking from the cup of joy what are we drinking? What are we allowing to absorb in our bodies that will eventually get out? I am not drinking just to get through life’s storms I am drinking for those who have falling into fear, for those who are struggling with unbelief, for the unanswered questions, for the parable among this pandemic. Because Jesus bore every sorrow while on the cross, I am reminded he did it so that we can have joy. The pain he went through is nothing compared to our current event. He took millions of sorrows, guilt, shame, deceit all at once for you and me so that we can have joy. One songwriter said, “I get joy when I think about what He’s [Christ] done for me” (I am clapping my hands and stomping my feet and singing this right now). So on this, let us choose to rejoice. Put your hands together and sing along with me a song by Bishop Leonard Scott: I get joy when I think about ( what he’s done for me) I get joy when I think about ( what he’s done for me) I get joy when I think about (what he’s done for me) I get joy when I think about ( what he’s done for me)

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for this day and all that you have done for me. Today, because of who you are even in the midst of trouble I will rejoice. May your joy strengthen all those in need. Amen.
